Subject: Deputy Director for Management (DDM) Seminar Series: June 12, 2008 Featuring Dr. Samuel Betances
The NIH Training Center, along with the Deputy Director for Management (DDM),
is pleased to announce that Dr. Samuel Betances, a diversity consultant to
Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, community groups, and academia,
will be the next speaker in the DDM Seminar Series on June 12, 2008, from 11:00
am - 12:00 pm at the Masur Auditorium (Building 10/Clinical Center).
Please join us for a discussion on “Diversity as a Leadership Strategy.” Topics
include:
- What Diversity Is and Is Not
- The Four Major Forces of Change that Require Diversity Competencies
- Cultural Shifts that Necessitate a Different Way of Conducting Business
- Diversity-Relevant, Mission-Driven Mentoring
Dr. Betances is the author of "Communicating Diversity: Powerful, Practical,
Persuasive Pointers to Get the Job Done", as well as "Ten Steps to the Head of
the Class: A Challenge to Students". He holds a Doctorate from Harvard
University and is a Professor Emeritus.
Light refreshments will be served immediately following the presentation in the
Masur reception area. The presentation will be available via NIH Videocasting
at http://videocast.nih.gov/ for those that cannot attend or if Masur
Auditorium reaches capacity.
Sign language interpreters will be provided. Individuals with disabilities who
