Free Classes: Indoor Cycling

During the month of July, the R&W Fitness Program is pleased to present FREE indoor cycling classes.   Classes will be held at the Loft (T-39) on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:15pm – 2pm.  Please join our fantastic instructor, Tiffany, for a 45 minute fun and challenging class!   Space is limited, RSVP to Sunithi Hindagolla at sunithi.hindagolla@nih.gov with the date(s) you plan to attend.

FREE Fitness Boot Camp

Thru August 1st, join Ana every Tuesday and Thursday from 7am – 8am at the Loft (T-39), for a FREE Fitness Boot Camp!  Classes will be held both indoors and outdoors.   Workouts will include strength exercises, use of an agility ladder, running, and more.  Come prepared to sweat and challenge yourself in this fun class! 

Want to Learn to Dance Kizomba?

Kizomba is a mixture of Angolan Semba and Zouk from the French West Indies.  This month the Afrosensuality dance team will offer a free introductory workshop at the Loft (Building T-39).  For more info contact Robert at geterr@od.nih.gov.

JaWanna’s Workout of the Month

Do you find yourself not having much time to exercise but you want to burn calories and gain strength?  Try this 20 minute full body workout that will have you in and out of the gym in no time.  The workout begins with a warm-up and alternates the cardio moves with strength training exercises.  You should use an appropriate weight for your strength level and do approximately 10 repetitions of each strength exercise.  Repeat the workout three times, taking a 1 to 2 minute rest in between rounds.  Don’t forget to stretch after completing any workout! 

·         20-40 jumping jacks for warm-up

·         Split squat with shoulder press

·         20 jumping jacks

·         Kneeling Cable wood chop

·         20 jumping jacks

·         Squats

·         20 jumping jacks

·         Roman chair leg lifts

·         20 jumping jacks

·         Biceps curls on a Bosu

Commit to Get Fit:
30 Day Fitness Challenge

The NIH R&W Fitness Program challenges teams of 4 to improve your fitness in 30 days by joining our Fitness Challenge.  The Challenge includes a structured workout calendar with designated Strength and Cardio days, suggested workouts, featured fitness classes, and a free fitness center membership throughout the program!   The Challenge participants will be organized into teams of 4, who each will collectively earn points for their team throughout the week.  The team that accumulates the most points at the end of the 30 days will win a prize (TBA).  Registration costs $20.  For more info or to register, contact Sunithi Hindagolla at sunithi.hindagolla@nih.gov.  


Fitness Insight Training Plus (FIT+) is a new program on the NIH main campus that aims to educate and motivate employees toward a more active, healthy lifestyle.

The R&W’s FIT+ program is especially designed for those interested in learning the best exercises for their body and the reasons behind it. However, anyone can benefit from the program!

FIT+ is a four-week program with educational & practical workshops each week and a variety of fitness options. This program will help motivate you in a group setting to initiate and maintain healthier habits. FIT+ will begin July 24th.
