The NIH Fitness Centers offers personal training with certified instructors. We offer 30 minute and 60 minute sessions as well as duet packages. Please contact Bldg 31 at (301) 496-8746 or Rockledge at (301) 435-0038 if you have any questions.

All fees must be paid at the consultation and beginning of any new sessions/packages.

Packages of 1 & 3 Training Sessions must be completed within a 30 Day Period.
Packages of 6 & 10
Training Sessions must be completed within a 90 Day Period.

All cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance of the session unless an emergency arises (i.e., illness, family crisis, weather conditions). Failure to notify trainer or show up for the session will result as a use session.

Meet Our Personal Trainers

Terry Bowers bowersta@od.nih.gov

Terry is a certified personal trainer and has been involved with the fitness industry for over 25 years. Terry earned her personal training certification from the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and is working on additional certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Her private clients are Grammy Award Winning musicians, nationally recognized authors and speakers, and one of the Navy’s original Top Guns. With humor, empathy and a passionate desire to help improve her client’s quality of life she focuses on the client’s entire lifestyle which often results in improvement of overall health and happiness as well as a reduction in the need for many types of prescription medicine.  Terry’s  is excited about working here at the R&W NIH Fitness Centers and wants to  work to improve your energy, core strength  functional flexibility and help to instill a life long love for exercise.

 

Michael Flanigan

Michael Flanigan is a nationally certified personal trainer based in Gaithersburg, MD. His ultimate goal is to satisfy every client’s training need by designing a fitness program that will merge practical physical solutions into a permanent healthy lifestyle for his client. Michael obtained his national certification as a personal trainer from the National Strength Professionals Association.  As a personal trainer, Michael has designed many programs to fit a wide variety of training profiles (recreational, therapeutic, special education and sports specific) and is thoroughly committed to the strength and motivational aspects of training. Michael earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh.

JaWanna earned her personal training certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and her Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science from the College of Charleston.  She is also an ACE-certified Group Fitness Instructor.  During college, she was a Lady Cougar on the College of Charleston’s track team and a participant in the Cooper River Bridge 10k run in Charleston, SC.  JaWanna continues to gear her life towards being active and her focus on training is a holistic approach.  She likes to combine cardio, resistance, flexibility, and balance to develop the entire body.  JaWanna’s previous experience was with AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps as a Corps Member and the team Physical Training Coordinator. She has performed workouts for team members with the sunrise on the beach in Biloxi, MS and in the plains of Pine Ridge, South Dakota.  When she wasn’t helping the members of her team stay fit she was reconstructing homes in Biloxi, MS and St. Bernard, LA, installing hurricanes shutters in Fort Pierce, Fl, and developing the character of children in Pine Ridge, SD. She is excited about expanding her experience further to work with the great members of the NIH R&W Fitness Center. 



 

 

 

 

 

 

 

JaWanna Henry henryj@od.nih.gov


Kelly earned her personal training certification through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) in June 2009 and has been employed at the fitness center since June 2008.  She graduated from Emory University with a B.S. in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology in 2007 and will graduate with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in May 2010 from Marymount University.  Growing up, she trained at the Maryland Youth Ballet, where she developed a love for physique, physical fitness and activity.  Through her graduate studies, she has taken a personal interest in preventing disease and musculoskeletal injury through a healthy diet and exercise.  Not only will Kelly help you reach your personal fitness goals, but she will also help you create and maintain a healthy lifestyle to reduce the risk of disease.

Yvonne Quinones

 

Yvonne Quinones has a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from George Mason University. She is a certified Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFFA) & American Council on Exercise (ACE) Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Training. Yvonne has been working in the Fitness industry for 18 years. As a Reebok University agent, she helped develop and market Reebok programs such as Cycle Reebok, Reebok Flexible Strength, CORE Training and many others. As a Marketing Director for DCAC Inc., she promotes certifications for Group Fitness and Personal Trainers in DC, MD and VA. She teaches Spin, Hi-Low, Group Personal Training, Stretch, BOSU, Step, Interval Training, Water Aerobics, Muscle Sculpting, Dance, Foam Roller and Pilates Reformer.

 

Rockledge

Patrick Bengero

Patrick Bengero is a certified Personal Trainer, certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Chiropractic Assistant. Patrick’s career goal is to become a physical therapist. His experience ranges from rehabilitative exercise to sport specific training.  His interest in exercise is primarily in the physiology and biomechanics of movement and exercise. Patrick earned his B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland, his Personal Trainer certification from the National Council on Strength and Fitness and his Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  Patrick is a former competitive volleyball player and enjoys several sports.

 

Marlon Briscoe

Marlon earned his personal training certification from the National Association of Sports Medicine (NASM) and has experience training small groups and individuals. He implements new fitness and recreation ideas and concepts into interactive exercises, free weights, and calisthenics. Marlon is creative during group and individual personal training sessions helping clients to maximize their workouts. His personality truly shines when he is immersed in the realms of recreation and fitness because he not only has an innate passion for health and fitness, but is one who loves to laugh and have fun. He is also Dotfit (dotfit.com) certified, as well as a member of the IDEA Health and Fitness Association which has enhanced his knowledge of supplementation, online-coaching and nutrition.

 

Greg O’Hanlon

Greg earned his personal training certification in 1999 from Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). He has experience training men and women of all ages and fitness levels. Greg also has experience with special populations, working with individuals who have suffered from conditions which include: Type I & Type II Diabetes, Heart Disease, Lupus, Osteoporosis, Arthritis, Gout, and Obesity. He excels in helping his clients build strength and muscle, lose body fat, and pushing their fitness levels to places they never imagined. While working as a personal trainer, he spent five years as a fitness and commercial model. During that time, he worked for such companies as Under Armour, Fila, and Toyota. Greg grew up in Baltimore, MD where he attended Cardinal Gibbons High School. During high school he played soccer, basketball, and baseball. Later, he went on to Towson State University and studied Biology.
