Hatha Yoga
 

Judith Lyon, an artist and historian, has been a student of Eastern philosophy and meditation for over 35 years. Her classes are based on the teachings of classical Hatha yoga as expressed by B.K.S. Iyengar, and Sri Swami Satchitananda, by whom she is certified. She is a RYT 500. Judith established the Yoga program for the NIH where she has given workshops and taught classes for over ten years. In addition to teaching at NIH, Judith is a teacher at one of the leading Yoga studios in the Washington, D.C. area, Sun and Moon Yoga.

Through a series of postures, stretches, breathing, and deep relaxation, Yoga ("union") is an ancient practice for reducing stress, balancing the mind, and restoring good health. Techniques promote mental clarity, calmness, and an effective preventative health maintenance program. The practice serves to create greater flexibility, strength, and integration of the body, mind, and spirit. 


Vinyasa Yoga

Ellen Pucciarelli is a certified YRT200 Yoga Alliance Teacher.  This class weaves Hatha Yoga postures into a flow with detailed instruction.  Various versions of sun salutations, standing and seated postures will be explored with emphasis on building strength and flexibility, bringing more awareness and focused attention to the breath, and learning how to relax the mind & body.
