HOUSING FACT SHEET

GENERAL NOTICE

The listing described herein is a service provided by the Recreation & Welfare Association. Its purpose is to provide a supplemental source of data to current and prospective NIH employees on rental properties within the metropolitan area. No investigation is made of the renter or rentee. All listings must be available without regard to race, color, sex religion, or national origin. Further, any property listed with our service must be in compliance with all state and county housing codes and requirements. Complaints against landlords or tenants should be reported to your local county Office of Landlord and Tenant Affairs.

TO NIH EMPLOYEES OR POTENTIAL EMPLOYEES SEEKING HOUSING

The Housing listings are updated every two weeks in accordance with Schedule of Deadline and Run Dates printed on the reverse. Printouts are available in your servicing personnel office. The list goes out through the NIH mainframe computer. The list is also posted in the hall in the C wing by the personnel office. It is also posted outside the R&W store in Bldg.. 31/B1W30.

Potential renters should be advised to carefully read over all contracts/agreements and house rules presented to you by the landlord and you should be aware of what you are committing to when you sign documents.  Please make sure you are aware of your obligations.

TO POTENTIAL LANDLORDS/TENANTS

Individual property owners may list their rental property, within the metropolitan area only, on the NIH Housing Listing. To do so, complete a RENTAL LISTING FORM AND SEND IT ALONG WITH THE $15.00 FEE to the NIH R&W Housing Office, 31 Center Drive MSC 2062, Building 31, Room B1-W30, Bethesda, Maryland 20892-2062. WE CANNOT ACCEPT SALE, RECREATION OR LEISURE, OUT-OF-AREA, OR COMMERCIAL/RESIDENTIAL REAL ESTATE OR MANAGEMENT COMPANY PROPERTY LISTINGS. The housing fax number is (301)402-1052.

Listing forms are available and may also be deposited in the Housing Display located in Building 31, C-wing Lobby, or may be requested by calling the R&W at 496-4600.

Please notify the R&W Housing Office at 496-4600 when your property is rented. Properties will be listed on two consecutive printouts unless the R&W Housing Office has been notified to delete your property. After this time, properties MUST BE RESUBMITTED in order to be listed on additional printouts. TELEPHONE REQUESTS TO UPDATE OR CONTINUE LISTINGS CANNOT BE HONORED.

Persons wishing to advertise property for sale, recreation or leisure property, or property outside the Washington metropolitan area, can place a classified ad in the R&W Newsletter (call 496-4600 for pricing and information). Bulletin Boards on campus are located in the following Buildings, by the Cafeterias: Bldg.. 31, Bldg..10, Bldg..38, Bldg..1, & Bldg..35. Bulletin Boards are self service.
