NIHGA

NO-SHOW POLICY

June 2004

BACKGROUND

Over the past several years, the NIHGA has noted an inordinate number of NIHGA members/players either canceling at the last minute or just simply not showing up for play at their assigned tee times.  The NIHGA must sign a contract for play with each respective golf course, and it must guarantee a minimum number of players for each outing. Therefore, it is imperative that the NIHGA meet its contractual obligation by assuring that the minimum number of players participates in each golf outing.  In the event that the NIHGA does not meet its guaranteed minimum number of players, the league could be obligated to compensate the course for each and every “no show.”  For these reasons, the NIHGA has established the following written no-show policy for each of its golf events.

NIHGA NO-SHOW POLICY

Each respective golf course contracted by the NIHGA for its golf events will reserve the right to make decisions as to the playability of the course.   The NIHGA will adhere to the respective golf course management’s decision as to the playability of the course.

Very simply, IF THE GOLF COURSE SCHEDULED FOR AN NIHGA OUTING IS OPEN FOR PLAY … THE NIHGA SHALL PLAY.

Inclement weather or generally bad weather is not of itself a good reason for a player to cancel, not show up, or to discontinue play.

NIHGA MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

All members registered to play at an NIHGA scheduled golf outing shall, therefore, be ready to start play at the appointed tee time, unless they call the course and are told that the course is closed.  In case of illness or an unexpected emergency at work or home, a player shall call the course to inform the Pro Shop staff.   In these rare circumstances, a player may consult the outing flyer for the course phone number.

Should the course charge the league for the fees associated with a player who does not show up for any reason, the NIHGA will recoup those costs from the player him/herself.
