All NIH employees and alumni are welcome to join the APAO. The terms "NIH employees" and "Alumni" are used loosely. Those who work at any of the NIH campuses, regardless of salary source, are considered NIH employees for this purpose. Similarly those who have ever worked at the NIH are considered NIH Alumni.

Two simple reasons:
1.Without you, there is no APAO; and without APAO there is no independent organization to address your concerns relating to equality and fairness in the workplace.
