Sifu Hon Lee is co-founder and Director of the Jow Ga Shaolin Institute. He has spent
more than 30 years studying, researching and teaching a variety of traditional Asian
martial arts. While living and working in Asia over a 20-year period, he persistently
sought out and studied under renowned masters of Kung Fu and Tai Chi in Taiwan, Hong Kong
and China. For example, while living in China, he had the rare privilege of learning the Northern
system of Mizong Chuan as well as the complete set of ancient Qing Ping sword routines
under Master Lu Junhai, Grandmaster of the Mizong system. During Sifu
Lee's lifetime of training, he attained a high level of skill in several different styles,
including a black belt from Shotokan Karate Headquarters in Tokyo. Of all the styles he
has practiced, however, Sifu Lee considers the Jow Ga system his favorite and uses it

as the foundation for instructing his own students. He first began learning Jow Ga in Washington, D.C. in
1971 under the tutelage of Master Dean Chin and Sifu Hoy K. Lee. He was Master Dean
Chin's Chief of Staff when the latter established the headquarters for the U.S. Jow Ga Kung Fu Association in
1973, and remains a senior instructor for the Association. While living in Hong Kong from 1975-78, Sifu Lee had
the honor of continuing
his Jow Ga training under Grandmaster Chan Man Cheung's personal instruction. He
was subsequently accepted as one of only a handful of Grandmaster's disciples, and is a certified instructor
for Chan Man Cheung's Chinese Boxing Association.
