Grandpa's
lap, your basic home furnishing

Most people enjoy the innocence and wisdom of young
children. One of my favorite TV programs was Art Linkletter's show. I think it was called
"Children say the darndest things You may ask how is this going to help me buy or
sell a house ...... I haven't the faintest idea but if it adds a little warmth and humor
to your life maybe you will visit me often and share your stories, Besides, it is my web
page and I get to play. |
Several years ago I was busy writing a letter
when my three year old grand niece came up to me and asked for a piece of paper and a
pencil. Several minutes later she came back with a scribbled piece of paper and proudly
announced that she had written a letter. I said "Eileen that is great . "What
does it say?" She replied.
"How should I know, I can't
read." |

From Dottie Crago, manager of the Weichert
Bethesda office
 |
Dottie was trying to feed her
granddaughter Jasmine when she was just a toddler. Jasmine was giving her a fit not
wanting to eat and generally wining about everything. Exasperated Dottie held her
granddaughter firmly and said "You are going to eat your dinner and behave and not
have a cow about this!" Jasmine
looked at her grandma with a pouting lip and a tear about to form and said
" Mommy wont even let me have a puppy" |

| Dick Richardson:
I recall the agony and long years of trying to complete my advanced degrees. When our
children came faster than chapters in my dissertation, it seams it would never end. But
one day it did and my parents, in great relief sent me this gown. I had hoped for
something a little more utilitarian like money. But it was a nice gown and I put it on to
impress someone. The only one in the house was my three year old daughter Anna. An easy
mark I thought, So, wrapped in silk and velvet, I spread my arms and said " Look,
Anna!" Bewildered, she studied me and then said in her most commanding voice, " Now Fly!" |
And now for the rest of the story
It is so appropriate to this month of graduations new beginnings, and accomplishments.
"Fly, indeed. At the time it seemed like a fantasy of a
three-year-old mind. In retrospect, she identified an unknown symbol of these ancient
garments. That somewhere along the way, you and I (speaking to the graduates) have been
certified for flying into worlds that we never knew existed, and to fulfill dreams
that we have held and others have held for
us."
Good luck to our most recent graduates be it college, high school,
or even nursery school, a new job or profession, marriage, children ........
Every touchstone in our lives is not an ending for us or our
children but a new and exciting challenge. |
