CHART BOOK: Maryland Cruising Guide, 2006-07 Edition
The Maryland Cruising Guide is a book of charts of Maryland waters. It's helpful when sailing on Flying Scots and a necessity when sailing on cruising boats. Many NIHSA members own one. Purchasing it is a wise investment.
Buy a Maryland Cruising Guide from NIHSA. It is available for purchase at major NIHSA events.
Order a Maryland Cruising Guide by phone. Call the publisher, Williams & Heintz Map Corporation, in Capitol Heights, MD, at 301-336-1144. It's a local call from Bethesda, Silver Spring, and Rockville. (Long distance, call: 1-800-338-6228.) The cost is $25 + tax. No shipping charge. Visa and Master Charge are accepted. It will be shipped via UPS and will arrive in a few days.
New from NOAA for evaluation:
BookletChart is a form of nautical chart that has been reduced in scale and divided into a series of pages for convenience, but retains all the information of a full-scale nautical chart.
Free Electronic Navigational Charts (a message from NIHSA member, Mario Borgnia)...
- Electronic Navigational Charts are provided by NOAA, free of charge. ENC's can be downloaded for the coastal U.S. and Great Lakes. NOAA also provides all charts, at once, as a compressed 170 MB file.
- The charts are in S-57 format. Software is required to view the charts. NOAA lists free and non-free viewers. Mario suggests you try the freeware viewers.
Access Charts Without a Viewer!
- Try the Maptech Charts Application on the SAIL Magazine web for topographic charts, nautical charts, and more.
- It works a lot like MapQuest. You type in the city and state or zip code. Try zip code 21037 for Selby Bay.
For the above and more, explore NOAA's Charting & Navigation web page.
