The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Sailing Association welcomes sailors at all skill levels, from wanna-be to expert.  NIH employees, patients, on-site contractors and their immediate families are eligible to join.  Employees of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are eligible to join.

All club members must be Preferred Members of the NIH/NOAA Recreation and Welfare Association.

Membership forms are available at the R&W Activities Desk in Building 31 at NIH, and at the R&W store at NOAA SSMC2.  Anyone interested in joining is encouraged to come to club meetings and talk with active members and activity chairpersons.

NIHSA Membership

Full Member, $35: Open to all NIH and NOAA employees, NIH patients, on-site contractors, and employees of other federal agencies located on the NIH Campus, or by special action of the NIHSA Executive Committee.  Full or Associate Membership is required to charter the Flying Scots and take the Basic Training Course.

Associate Member, $20:  For children (18 years and older), spouse (or equivalent), and parents sharing the same household with an NIHSA Full Member. Same rights and responsibilities as Full Member.

Participating (Social) Member, $10:  For those who would like to participate in all NIHSA activities except chartering the Flying Scots or taking the Basic Training course.

NIH/NOAA Recreation and Welfare Association Membership

R&W Preferred Member, $7:  All NIHSA members are required to be current year NIH/NOAA R&W Preferred Members.

Please visit the nearest R&W store to join before joining NIHSA. Stores are located in Bg. 31, 10, the new CRC, Executive Plaza, Rockledge 1 and NOAA.  You can walk into Rockledge 1 without going through security.  There is visitor parking in between and behind the two buildings.

Another option: R&W Membership by mail.

We strongly encourage you to make life easier on the volunteer officers by buying your own R&W membership before joining NIHSA.  For those who cannot get to the R&W, we have a very small number of R&W cards.

For more information about membership eligibility, privileges and responsibilities, see the NIHSA Guidebook.
